From: Peter on 27 Jul 2010 03:34 I picked the DR up from its 24K service last Saturday. It sat at home all weekend and wasn't started until Monday morning. There was a huge croak when it turned over sounding like there was no oil in the engine. I checked and there is oil.... halfway between E/F, and also looks cleaner than when I dropped it off. It croaked again this morning. There is no croak when warm. It has never made this sound before but once started seems to run fine and has only maked this sound twice when starting cold while turning over. Any thoughts on what the cause is? I am going to try and record it tomorrow morning. :-P

Do a scan through ADV rider's DR650 thread and you'll find the details (I can't be bothered) :) G-S

On 2010-07-27, Peter (aka Bruce) was almost, but not quite, entirely unlike tea: >> There is an issue with the starter motor on the DR650 that's well >> known, somewhere after 20000kms it is known to happen, >> sounds a bit like that. >> >> Do a scan through ADV rider's DR650 thread and you'll find the details >> (I can't be bothered) :) > > Thats it..... the starter motor. > http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=192856 I've never heard the dry clutch rattle of a ducati, but this is apparently how you retrofit a wet clutch 848 to make it sound like the dry clutch: http://www.livevideo.com/video/Maxxi/F9A78BF0C0074B2499E7502779572F92/ducati-848-clutch-sound-soluti.aspx -- TimC Your superior intellect is no match for our puny weapons -- Simpsons |
